Vice President, Planning & Business Allis-Chalmers Energy, Inc.
Anwer joined Allis-Chalmers Energy, Inc., as the Vice President of Planning and Business Development in September 2006. It is a small cap oilfield services company that trades on AMEX (ALY) and provides directional drilling, under balanced drilling, casing and tubing running, rental tools and production enhancement services in the US and Mexico. It also owns the 2nd. largest drilling contractor in Argentina. Prior to joining Allis- Chalmers he served as a Management, Technology and Strategy Consultant to clients in the energy and high technology fields both in the U.S. and overseas from April 2001.
Anwer holds a B.S. in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1976) and an MBA from Stanford University (1979). After graduating from Stanford, he joined Booz, Allen & Hamilton where he conducted assignments in energy, health care and airline industries in the U.S. Middle East and Pakistan. Assignments were in the areas of strategy, financial control and organizational studies. He then returned to Pakistan in 1981 to join his family business which he grew into the country’s largest oilfield services company. He moved to the U.S. in 1991 to open a subsidiary office which has since been repositioned as a Procurement Outsourcer that now operates in a “virtual” mode with all operations conducted via e-mail and the internet on 24/7 basis from joint operations in Houston and Pakistan. From October 1998 to March 2001, he was the CEO and co-founder of an e-business portal for the energy industry.
While he was living in Pakistan, besides leading his family business into several new areas of oilfield services, he also co-founded Newsline Publications (Pte.) Ltd. That today, is one of the two largest circulation monthly magazines in Pakistan and Financial & Management Services (Pte.) Ltd. It’s a joint venture between the Pakistan Banking Council, Booz Allen & Hamilton and Morgan Grenfell.
Anwer is married to Asma Ahmed who is a 2nd grade teacher in the Houston Independent School District. They have a son aged 16 and a daughter aged 12. He is a Past President of MIT Club of South Texas and is currently a Member of the Board of Directors. He also serves as the Club Liaison with MIT Enterprise Forum’s Houston Chapter. He is active in Boy Scouts of America as a Counselor for “Citizenship in the World” Merit Badge with Troop 642 of Sam Houston Area Council, has served as Fund Raising Chairman in 2004 and is currently a Member of Troop’s Succession Planning Committee.
In his leisure time Anwer enjoys spending time with his family and friends, traveling and reading books on politics, religion and business. He enjoys doing puzzles, swimming, cycling and running to stay mentally and physically fit.
