Shahid Javed joined BP Global PSCM in June 2007, and moved to North America Gas as Head of PSCM in January, 2008. Mr. Javed is responsible for managing $3 billion dollars in 3rd party spend, pursuing rigorous category management including creation of robust sector strategies, leading negotiations with strategic suppliers, and proactively addressing business demand and market conditions to deliver significant bottom line savings. Mr. Javed is also a member of the Global PSCM Leadership Team.
Prior to joining BP, Shahid Javed served as the Vice President - Procurement of Equity Office Properties. In this role, Mr. Javed was responsible for the creation and execution of the company’s procurement strategy, including developing and implementing policies and procedures, managing and developing national vendor contracts, and building a world-class procurement model to better leverage Equity Office’s size and scope in procuring goods and services at competitive costs.
Prior to joining Equity Office, Mr. Javed served as director of industry relations at Transora, the leading provider of business-to-business eCommerce solutions for consumer packaged goods (“CPG”) companies. In this position, he developed strategies to use technological platforms to reduce costs in the supply chain and gain operating efficiency. Mr. Javed also organized Transora’s Collaborative Procurement (Consortium) Offering, in which CPG companies participated to lower the cost for procurement of products and services.
Before joining Transora, Mr. Javed was director, procurement/outsourcing at Fort James Corporation, a paper and consumer products company, where he focused on supply chain cost reduction, examined the company’s core competencies and analyzed supplier markets to increase Fort James’ competitive advantage.
Mr. Javed received a master’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree of science in manufacturing systems engineering from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and the Stanford School of Engineering, respectively. He also received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. He is currently working in the capacity of Chief Procurement Officer, BP North America Gas.
